We chose the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE, as the site for our 4Q Katabat Service Day on Nov. 8, helping to clean up the grounds in advance of Veterans Day.
The Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery provides a final resting place for 45,000 Delaware veterans and their eligible family members. It received an Operational Excellence Award in October from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, placing it among the top 5 percent of state veterans’ cemeteries in the nation.
As part of Katabat Service Day, the team cleaned headstones, mulched around trees that families have planted near headstones, and prepped the area by pulling up weeds and grass.
“This is our way of giving back to the people and families of those who protected our country,” said Jennifer Davis, who organized the afternoon activities. “It’s important we take time away from our day-to-day responsibilities and celebrate our company values by supporting organizations like this.”
This was the Katabat’s team second visit to the cemetery in 2018. It held a similar Katabat Service Day before Memorial Day.
Special thanks to Elysandra Ziegler, Donna Jones and Soma Sadasivamoorthy, who stayed behind to take care of our customers.
